SVS collects the information needed to review an application, communicate with applicants and parents or guardians, and run the cohort. We do not sell or rent personal information.
SVS is a California sole proprietorship operated by Soham Jani. This notice applies to the SVS website and the SVS cohort application. Questions or requests can be sent to soham@excal.org.
What we collect
Information connected to an application.
Depending on what an applicant provides, this can include a student’s and parent or guardian’s name, email address, school, grade, availability, application responses, project or interest context, and messages exchanged with SVS.
The application is provided through Tally. Tally may process limited technical information, such as device or browser information, as needed to provide its form service. SVS does not knowingly use advertising pixels or cross-site behavioral advertising on this website.
How we use it
For thoughtful review, not a marketing machine.
SVS uses application information to evaluate fit, make personalized application decisions, communicate about an application or cohort, administer the program, protect the integrity of the application process, and meet legal obligations.
SVS may use AI tools selected by the operator to organize or analyze application materials and support a more personal review. Those tools are used for SVS operations, not to sell applicant information or build an advertising audience.
Students and parents
Built for students 14 and older.
SVS does not accept applications from children under 14 and does not knowingly collect their personal information. Students aged 14 through 17 may apply only with a parent or legal guardian’s review and approval. A parent or guardian may contact us to ask about, correct, or request deletion of their student’s application information.
Parents and guardians should review this notice and the SVS Terms of Use before approving an application.
Your choices
Ask to see, correct, or delete information.
You, or a parent or guardian acting for a student, may email soham@excal.org to request access to, correction of, or deletion of application information. We may ask for enough information to verify the request before acting on it. We will handle applicable privacy rights in accordance with California law.
SVS does not respond to browser Do Not Track signals. SVS does not knowingly allow third-party advertising tracking across unrelated websites. Tally may use cookies or similar technical tools required to supply the application form.
Retention and security
Kept through the cohort decision window.
SVS retains application information until the end of the relevant cohort so that decisions can be made with appropriate context. We may keep it longer where a continued relationship, a legal obligation, a dispute, or a legitimate operational need requires it. Otherwise, information is deleted or de-identified when no longer needed.
SVS uses reasonable safeguards appropriate to a small program, but no internet service or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
